Nearly There

Does it look any different?  See this post here for the "before" images.  Beneath the layout where the two white boxes are sitting is where the "staging cabinet" is going to live.  That's a project for this Fall, and one I'm really looking forward to.

Decluttering is a skill that, when learned well and practiced regularly, is able to rewrite the brain.  The greatest takeaway from this reorganization has been the realization that I deferred way too many decisions.  That's the essence of clutter - "I'll decide later".  The more I can decide now, the easier it becomes to keep doing that, and the less cluttered my workbench becomes.

  1. It's looking very good. Hey, is that a Revell Summer Stock Theater kit I see on the layout?

    1. Indeed it is. Bought it with the express purpose of turning it into a former livery stable now becoming an automobile garage. Still provides blacksmithing services as this is a rural community. Located adjacent to Tom's Trucking which was originally a horse and wagon affair that adapted and grew with the times.

I keep shifting the location slightly as I've almost certainly decided to add a boiler room to the Chero Cola bottling plant which will need coal delivered by rail. Tempted to squeeze in a small coal dealer but I think that would clutter the scene. Was tempted to eliminate the blacksmith/mechanic all together and put in a coal/oil dealer instead, but the wood structure of the Revell barn/theater just works too well to tell the story of change over time in this community.
